A2 General English

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) divides language proficiency into six levels, from A1 (beginner) to C2 (proficient). The A2 level is the second level.

At the A2 level, a learner can:

  1. Understand: Understand and use familiar everyday expressions. They can comprehend  sentences about basic personal information, family, shopping, and local geography.

  2. Speak: Communicate in routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information. They can describe their background, immediate environment, and express basic needs.

  3. Read: Understand simple written texts like signs, brochures, and short messages. They can gather specific information from short, simple texts.

  4. Write: Write simple notes and messages related to familiar topics. They can fill in forms with personal details, like name, nationality, and address.

Overall, at the A2 level, learners have a foundation in English that allows them to engage in basic, practical conversations and handle straightforward written material.
